Amy Winehouse inspired me to paint her figure because, in the few short years that she was alive, she managed to demonstrate her huge talent and incredible voice. This amazing singer had a rare voice and a distinct presence (large, green eyes painted like Cleopatra, and a body covered in tattoos) that moved me, and I wanted to capture her through my own sense of painting.
