In 1999, as a student at the School of Fine Arts, I first saw Pat Andrea’s “Juntando Bronca”. I don’t know the extent to which this painting has influenced me, but it has certainly haunted me. The simplicity of the black figure that dominates in a metaphysical way makes the work both oddly lyrical and unique, at the same time.
