Chronis Botsoglou. A Personal Nekyia (1993-2000): A Visual Arts Essay on Memory
The presentation of a group of works by Chronis Botsoglou dating from the period 1993-2000. The title “Nekyia” refers to the eleventh book of the “Odyssey”, which describes the descent of Odysseus into a place where no light exists and where through a ceremony of “necromancy” he meets and converses with the shades of the dead. The artist, in his own personal Nekyia, has attempted to understand and depict the manner in which he remembers individuals who are no longer living and who played a significant role in his life. “Nekyia” attempts to form a visual arts essay on memory and it belongs to the Sotiris Felios Collection.
