The Sotiris Felios Collection. Emmanouil Bitsakis: Persistent Minimum

The Sotiris Felios Collection. Emmanouil Bitsakis: Persistent Minimum

The exhibition entitled “Persistent Minimum” with works by Emmanouil Bitsakis from the Sotiris Felios Collection will open at 16 Fokionos Negri on Wednesday 21st February 2018, at 8 p.m.

The exhibition comprises fifty paintings from the Felios Collection, dating between 1998 and 2017, as well as paintings and pen drawings from the artist’s own collection.

The exhibition title refers to the consistency in creating small scale works, detailed images of a ‘minimum’ format, that nonetheless enclose a very complex universe of their own. Some works are narrative, others more abstract, but with a certain structure that reflects the absurd.

What may be perceived as ‘minimum’ is still ‘big’ enough to contain an entire theatrical play, complete with sets and cast, where the lead actors demonstrate a wide range of acting skills, from the strictly classical all the way to a series of unnatural body movements and unsettling voice alterations.

The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated, bilingual (Greek-English) catalogue.
